At Hermanus, everything you need is right on the doorstep. Many guests prefer to stay in and around Winterton-on-Sea, a largely unspoilt fishing village nestled in rolling sand dunes with stunning sea views.

However, if you do want to venture further afield, you’ll find a whole world of things to see and do within easy reach.

Wonderful location atop the dunes with sea views to match, and great “away from it all” attitude and atmosphere.

Seals at Horsey

Seals at Horsey

Just north of Winterton and along to Horsey Gap, you can see seals when they come to deliver their pups in December and early January.

Take a bracing walk along the beach or dunes, then spend some time watching the baby seals and their parents on the beach and among the dunes.

This is an incredible opportunity to see these fascinating animals up close in their natural habitat. Make sure your dog stays on the lead – and take a camera!
